• "I sincerely enjoyed attending the 2007 NALBOH conference. I wish I had rearranged my schedule to stay longer. This is my first year as a representative of the Fulton County Board of Health. Attending the conference helped solidify my understanding of both my role on the Board and the role of the Board in supporting efforts to provide and enhance public health. I hope I will be able to attend the upcoming conference. I believe the experience will contribute to my continued learning and future contributions to the Board of Health and the communities we serve."

- Samantha P. Williams, Ph.D., Fulton County Board of Health (GA)

• "The training I received when first becoming a board of health member was rudimentary at best. As a result, my understanding of public health was minimal; I had no knowledge of the three public health core functions, nor the 10 essential services. Then I attended my first NALBOH conference. The orientation and education provided by NALBOH gave me a much broader understanding of public health and boards of health, and made me more comfortable in my role as a board of health member.

NALBOH also assisted our state in creating a State Association of Boards of Health, or SALBOH. When tobacco settlement revenue allowed our legislature to subsequently create a number of health districts, our SALBOH, in existence in part because of NALBOH, was invaluable in organizing and educating all of the resulting new boards of health."

-Ed Schneider, Lincoln/Lancaster County Board of Health (NE)

• "My first annual National Association of Local Boards of Health conference was in Boston in 1997. I have not missed one since thus totaling 11 consecutive conferences. I look forward to number 12 in Madison, Wisconsin. I am impressed because knowledge obtained is invaluable and each one surpasses the previous. I look forward to making new friends at each conference and especially seeing old friends made back in 1997. All who attend are welcomed as family to a great association."

- Joy Godin, RN, Dutchess County Board of Health (NY)

• "The conference was very informative with well planned breakout classes and activities. The classes were timely and in concert with many of the issues surrounding public health entities. In addition, Alaska was a great place to visit and the conference provided an opportunity for networking and great keynote speakers. I look forward to this year's conference. Thank you for this opportunity."

- Lynne P. Meadows, RN, Fulton County Board of Health (GA)

• "NALBOH membership has been valuable in raising my awareness and understanding of universal health issues. Both the NALBOH NEWSBRIEF and the annual conference have been a great asset to me in increasing my knowledge about these important issues."

- Brian Cook, Davis County Board of Health (UT)
