MacNeal Scholarship
The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) is pleased to announce a special opportunity for students seeking a degree in the fields of public health, environmental health, health education, or clinical services. Through the initial generous donation of James John MacNeal, DO, MPH, former NALBOH Project Director, and others since then, NALBOH will be offering a minimum of one (1) MacNeal Scholarship for $800 to assist a public health student to attend the NALBOH Annual Conference from August 5-7, 2010 in Omaha, NE.
This scholarship program is designed to assist students to participate in NALBOH’s Annual Conference and learn more about the governing bodies of local public health systems. The awardee will have an opportunity to attend sessions on board governance, community health, environmental health, and preparedness; interact with board of health members; hear from national, state, and local public health leaders; and gain additional information useful to a future role as a public health worker and, hopefully, a board of health member.
Application Submission Closed:
Friday May 7, 2010, 5pm, Eastern
**Applicants will be notified of Awards by Friday, May 21, 2010.
If selected, the MacNeal Scholar will have the following responsibilities:
- Attend the NALBOH Annual Conference from August 5-7, 2010 in Omaha.
- Complete evaluation forms on concurrent sessions attended and the conference as a whole
- Describe what the conference experience meant and how the new knowledge will be used in a NALBOH NEWSBRIEF article
- Encourage other students of public health, environmental health, health education, or clinical services to learn more about NALBOH and boards of health
