Emeritus News - Dec. 2009
- NALBOH celebrated its 17th birthday on Nov 7. Thank you Emeritus for your contributions to the success of NALBOH as an important national organization representing boards of health.
- April 1993 NALBOH held its first sit down together board meeting in Omaha, NE. Ms. Donna Polk, Midwest Trustee & Mr. Ken Svoboda, Secretary /Treasurer hosted the meeting. On August 5-7 2010 NALBOH will be returning to Omaha for its 18th Annual Conference. The conference will be at the Hilton Hotel. The Emeritus Committee is planning for an Emeritus dinner to be held on the evening of August 4 at 6:00PM. Location to be announced. Come join us for dinner and good conversation about NALBOH now & then. Remember as a former NALBOHIAN with an Emeritus Status you will have a reduced conference rate. More specific registration and dinner plans will be forthcoming after the first of the year.
- On October 30, 2009 NALBOH lost one of its staunchest supporters when Grace Duncan, NALBOH’S 6th President lost her fight to cancer. Grace participated in the first meeting of representatives of state associations of boards of health in Atlanta in 1991 when we discussed forming a national organization of boards of health. She was one of the original signers of NALBOH’S incorporation papers. She was always looking ahead and was planning to see us all in Omaha. Her tenacity and love for NALBOH will long be appreciated and remembered.

- New NALBOH Office: After over 14 years of being located in the Wood Co Health Department NALBOH has acquired its own office space. The staff is enjoying their own office space, although missing the interaction with the health department staff. We thank the Wood Co Board of Health and the County Commissioners for providing space for NALBOH in our infancy. You can still contact NALBOH at the same address and phone number.
- The 11th Ned E. Baker Lecture is scheduled for April 8, 2010 at Bowling Green State University beginning at 5:00PM (ET). The subject will be” A Growing Hunger for Information about Food and Nutrition.” It will be followed with a training session for board members in attendance. If you can join the lecture here in BG or by WEBCAST please do so.
Finally let us wish you the very best for the Holiday Season and we are looking forward to reminiscing with you in Omaha in 2010. Let us know if we can answer any questions or assist you in anyway.
